Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Upon receiving your established 4-litre pot plant, it is crucial to plant it as soon as possible. Choose a location that receives adequate sunlight (at least 6 hours per day is generally recommended for most roses) and has well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the pot and just deep enough so the top of the soil in the pot is level with the surrounding ground. Gently remove the plant from its pot, loosen any circling roots, place it in the hole, and backfill with soil, firming gently.
Compatibility:
This rose variety is compatible with most garden soils, provided they are well-draining. It can be planted alongside other flowering shrubs and perennials that have similar light and watering requirements. Ensure adequate spacing from other plants to allow for good air circulation.
Care:
- Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry spells, ensuring the soil stays consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water at the base of the plant to keep foliage dry and prevent disease.
- Feeding: Feed with a balanced rose fertilizer in spring as new growth appears, and again after the first flush of blooms.
- Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches and to shape the plant. Aim to encourage an open, vase-like structure.
- Pest & Disease: Monitor for common rose pests like aphids and diseases such as black spot or mildew. Prompt treatment with appropriate organic or chemical solutions is recommended. Ensure good air circulation.
