Setup, Compatibility & Care
Before installing the Clarks CL20RB bicycle chain, ensure it's compatible with your bike's gearing system (5, 6, or 7 speeds). The chain is designed for standard setups. Professional installation is recommended if you are not familiar with chain replacement.
Compatibility
This chain is compatible with 5, 6, and 7-speed gearing systems. Check your bike's specifications to confirm the number of speeds.
Installation
- Remove the old chain. Use a chain tool to separate the old chain.
- Place the new chain around the chainrings and cassette. Make sure the chain is correctly routed through the derailleur.
- Use a chain tool to remove any excess links. Ensure proper chain tension.
- Connect the chain using a chain pin or master link.
Care
- Cleaning: Wipe the chain with a clean cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid using high-pressure washers, which can damage the chain.
- Lubrication: Apply chain lubricant to the chain regularly, especially after cleaning or riding in wet conditions. Allow the lubricant to penetrate, then wipe off any excess.
- Inspection: Regularly check the chain for wear and tear. Use a chain checker tool to measure chain stretch. Replace the chain if it exceeds the recommended wear limits.
