FAQs
Will this sleeve fit a 12ft rod with a 50mm butt ring?
Yes, it is specifically designed to accommodate 50mm butt rings without causing friction.
Can I store a rod with a reel attached?
The sleeve is designed to cover the rod section, but it is primarily a rod protector; ensure your reel is protected accordingly if you are transporting it inside the sleeve.
How do I wash the sleeve?
Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap; do not use heavy detergents or machine wash as this may damage the internal padding.
Does this sleeve include a shoulder strap?
No, it is a streamlined design intended for protection, not carrying comfort.
What material is the sleeve made from?
It is constructed from 210D PVC-backed nylon with a quilted lining.
Is the material waterproof?
The PVC backing provides high water resistance, keeping your rods dry in light rain.
Troubleshooting
Drawstring feels tight or sticks
Ensure no dirt or grit has accumulated in the eyelet and pull the cord from both sides simultaneously to ensure even tension.
Elasticated tip area seems loose
Ensure the rod tip is fully seated into the base pocket to allow the elastic to create the necessary tension.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Lightweight and slim profile for easy storage
- Reinforced 210D PVC-backed nylon material
- Excellent interior padding protects delicate rod tips
- Designed specifically to fit modern 50mm ringing setups
Cons
- No external pockets for storing accessories
- Does not feature a shoulder strap for long-distance carrying
- Material is flexible rather than rigid protection
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To set up your rod, simply slide the rod tip into the base until the Elasticated Tip Top engages. Pull the body of the sleeve upward over the guides and secure the drawstring below the reel. For care, keep the sleeve away from sharp objects that could pierce the nylon. If the sleeve gets wet or muddy, clean it by wiping it down with a damp cloth or using a soft brush once dry. Avoid machine washing to maintain the integrity of the PVC backing.
