Clarkia Seeds 'Brilliant' - Marshalls Garden

Sow seeds outdoors after the last frost, typically from spring through early summer.

After thinning, space the plants approximately 20cm (8 inches) apart.

Yes, Clarkia 'Brilliant' can be grown successfully in containers, provided they have good drainage and receive full sun.

Deadheading is not strictly necessary, but removing spent blooms can encourage more flowering and maintain a tidier appearance. It also prevents self-seeding if that is not desired.

Clarkia 'Brilliant' is an annual plant, meaning it completes its life cycle in one growing season and will need to be re-sown each year.

Germination typically occurs within 7-14 days, provided conditions are optimal (consistent moisture and warmth).

Ensure the soil was kept consistently moist during the germination period. Check that seeds were not sown too deeply and that the soil has adequate drainage.

Overwatering or poorly draining soil can cause damping off. Ensure adequate spacing and do not waterlog the soil. Check for pests that might be attacking young seedlings.

This can be due to insufficient sunlight or lack of nutrients. Ensure the plants are in full sun and consider a light feeding if the soil is poor. Proper thinning also encourages stronger stems.

Clarkia requires consistent moisture. Increase watering frequency during hot, dry weather. Mulching can help retain soil moisture.
