In most cases, the 25-degree needle point and sharp thread design allow these screws to penetrate timber and board materials without a pilot hole. However, for very hard woods or precise alignment in critical joints, a pilot hole may still be beneficial.
You will need a Pozi drive (PZ) bit, typically a PZ2 size for this 5.0 x 80mm screw, to fit the countersunk head recess.
The yellow tropicalised coating provides superior corrosion resistance compared to standard zinc-plated (BZP) coatings. They are suitable for use in damp environments but may require additional protection for prolonged exposure to harsh, salty conditions.
