This guide is for sewers and crafters looking for a high-quality, versatile fabric for garment creation. The Minerva Core Range Triple Crepe in Red offers a beautiful drape and textured appearance, making it ideal for dresses, skirts, trousers, and jackets. A key benefit is its heavy weight and slight give, which facilitates ease of sewing and a professional finish, though it is best suited for mid-weight to winter garments due to its substantial feel.

This heavy crepe is ideal for dresses, skirts, trousers, and jackets. Its weight and drape make it excellent for garments that require structure and flow, particularly for cooler seasons.
While primarily designed for apparel, its weight and durability might make it suitable for certain home decor items like cushion covers or upholstery projects where a textured, heavy fabric is desired. However, testing for suitability and wear is recommended.
Like most polyester fabrics, shrinkage is minimal but pre-washing at 40 degrees Celsius before cutting is always recommended to ensure stability in the final garment.
As a polyester fabric, it offers moderate breathability. It's suitable for year-round wear but might feel warmer than natural fibers like cotton or linen in very hot climates.
A universal needle, size 80/12, is generally recommended. For thread, a good quality polyester all-purpose thread will work well.
Machine wash at 40 degrees Celsius. Avoid bleach. Tumble dry on low or air dry. Iron on a medium setting, preferably on the reverse side.
While generally colorfast, it's always a good practice to wash dark or vibrant colors like red separately for the first few washes, especially in cold water, to prevent any potential color transfer.
Ensure you are using the correct needle size for a medium-weight fabric. Test with a universal needle, size 80/12. Also, check your tension settings and use a slightly longer stitch length if needed.
Iron the fabric on the reverse side at a medium heat setting. For best results, use a pressing cloth or a steam iron to avoid direct contact and preserve the crepe texture.
Ensure you followed the 40-degree washing instruction. A fabric softener can be used sparingly during the final rinse cycle if desired, or tumble dry on low heat with a dryer sheet.
As a fabric, the Minerva Core Range Triple Crepe requires no 'setup' beyond standard preparation for sewing projects. It is compatible with most standard sewing machines and sergers. Always pre-wash your fabric before cutting and sewing to account for any potential shrinkage.
