Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup Instructions
- Plan Your Layout: Before installation, mark the desired path or bed edge using string or spray paint to visualize the border's placement.
- Dig a Trench: Dig a shallow, narrow trench along your marked line. The trench should be deep enough to bury at least half of the edging's height (around 7cm) for stability.
- Place the Edging: Carefully unroll the metal edging and position it into the trench. For straight lines, ensure it's level. For curves, gently bend the metal to follow your desired shape. Work in sections if necessary.
- Secure the Edging: Backfill the trench with soil, compacting it firmly around the base of the edging to hold it securely in place. If additional stability is needed, especially on soft ground or tight curves, specialized metal edging stakes (sold separately) can be driven through the edging into the ground.
- Connect Multiple Rolls: If using more than one roll, overlap the ends slightly or use metal connectors (if available and compatible) to create a continuous border.
Compatibility
This garden edging is highly compatible with a wide range of outdoor environments, including:
- Flowerbeds and Shrub Borders: Effectively separates planting areas from lawns or pathways.
- Garden Paths: Creates crisp, clean lines for gravel, bark, or paved paths.
- Lawn Edges: Prevents grass encroachment into garden beds.
- Modern and Traditional Gardens: Its versatile pre-rusted finish complements diverse landscape designs.
Care & Maintenance
The Nicoman Metal Pre-Rusted Lawn Edging requires minimal care. The pre-rusted finish is designed to be weather-resistant and age naturally. You do not need to paint, seal, or treat it. Simply:
- Monitor Stability: Periodically check that the edging remains firmly in place, especially after heavy rain or ground disturbance. Re-compact soil if necessary.
- Clean (Optional): If desired, you can gently wipe down the visible surface with a damp cloth to remove any accumulated dirt, though this is purely for aesthetic preference and not necessary for product integrity. Do not use abrasive cleaners as they might alter the finish.
- Enjoy: The natural weathering process will continue to enhance its appearance over time.
