Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Setup: These brushes are ready to use straight out of the package. For best results, especially with new brushes, lightly flick the bristles to remove any loose ones before dipping into paint.
Compatibility: The Susan Bates paint brushes are designed for use with both oil-based paints and latex stains. Ensure the paint or stain is properly mixed according to its manufacturer's instructions before applying.
Care: To ensure longevity and reusability:
- Latex Paints: Immediately after use, rinse the brushes thoroughly with warm water. Work the water through the bristles until all paint residue is gone. Gently squeeze out excess water and reshape the bristles.
- Oil-Based Paints: Use the appropriate solvent recommended by the paint manufacturer (e.g., mineral spirits or paint thinner) to clean the bristles. Wipe away as much paint as possible, then wash with soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and reshape.
- Drying: Store brushes bristles-up in a jar or hang them bristles-down with the handles elevated. Avoid storing them flat, as this can damage the bristles. Ensure brushes are completely dry before storing long-term.
- Storage: Keep brushes in a clean, dry place. For long-term storage, consider covering the bristles with a protective sleeve or paper to maintain their shape.
