Product Information

Full details

The Savage Gear Pro Landing Net (L) is an essential tool for dedicated predator anglers who prioritize quick, efficient catch-and-release. Its standout feature is the intuitive, quick-release button that allows for instant deployment with one hand, making it ideal for solo fishing trips. While the foldable design offers significant space-saving benefits for transport, users should be aware that the larger size may require more storage space than ultra-compact alternatives despite its collapsing mechanism.

FAQs

Is the mesh safe for catch and release?

Yes, the rubberized coating is specifically designed to be fish-friendly and minimize damage to scales.

Can this net be used in saltwater?

Yes, but you must thoroughly rinse it with fresh water after every outing to prevent rust or salt-induced seizing of the folding mechanism.

Does the net come with a carrying bag?

No, it features an integrated belt strap and buckle for carry, but no additional storage bag is included.

How long is the handle?

The handle is designed for optimal reach and leverage, though total length varies slightly when the net is folded versus fully extended.

Will treble hooks get stuck in this mesh?

The rubber material is designed to be snag-resistant, making it much easier to remove hooks compared to traditional woven mesh.

Troubleshooting

Net hinge feels stiff or difficult to fold

Clear any dried mud or debris from the hinge mechanism and apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant.

Release button does not snap open fully

Check that the tension spring is free of grit and ensure the handle is not bent, which could interfere with the internal sliding rod.

Pros and Cons

Pros

One-handed deployment system is excellent for active anglers
Rubberized mesh prevents hook tangles and protects fish health
Belt strap provides convenient hands-free carry
Rugged construction suitable for freshwater predator fishing
Large size accommodates most pike and zander

Cons

Larger frame size may be cumbersome for lightweight ultralight setups
Folding mechanism requires occasional cleaning to maintain smooth operation
Heavier than non-folding fixed frame nets

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up the net, ensure the locking pin at the hinge is clear of debris before initial use. When collapsing, depress the release button fully to allow the arms to fold against the handle.

Compatibility: This net is sized as a Large, making it most compatible with medium to heavy lure rods. It is ideally paired with waders or fishing vests that feature gear loops.

Care Instructions:

Always rinse the net with fresh water after using it in brackish or saltwater environments to prevent hinge corrosion.
Allow the mesh to dry completely in a ventilated area before storing it in a closed compartment to prevent odors.
Occasionally apply a light, food-safe silicone lubricant to the folding hinge if the movement becomes stiff.
