RIO Elite MDC Single Handed Versitip Kit - Multicolor

MDC stands for 'Multi-Density Control'. These are specialized sink-tips designed to provide specific sinking rates and precise depth control, allowing anglers to target fish at different levels of the water column.

The kit is available in sizes WF5 - WF9. Select the size that matches the recommended line weight for your single-handed fly rod.

This kit is designed as a standalone interchangeable sink-tip system for a single-hand line. While the loop connections are standard, it's intended to be used with a base line, not as replacements for a multi-tip line's original tips.

The primary advantage is the ability to easily and quickly change fishing depth with precise control, along with the improved performance in mending and roll-casting compared to standard sink-tip lines.

Smooth turnover refers to how the fly line and leader straighten out at the end of the cast. A smooth turnover ensures the fly lands gently and accurately, without excessive disturbance to the water.

Ensure the fly line is properly straightened before casting. Check that the rod guides are clear and the fly line is not twisted. Make sure the loop-to-loop connection is smooth.

Gently pull the loop connection apart. If it feels stuck, try wiggling it slightly. Ensure no debris is caught in the loop.

Verify that the tip weight is appropriate for the line weight and casting conditions. Ensure the fly line and rod are well-matched. Check for any damage to the line or tips.

Confirm the tip is fully seated in the current and not being lifted by excessive line speed or drift. Adjust casting angle and retrieve rate as needed.
