FAQs

Are these hinges suitable for heavy entrance doors?

No, these are strictly for light-duty applications such as cupboards, shed doors, and garden gates.

Do I need to buy fixings separately?

Yes, fixings are not included with the hinges; you will need to purchase appropriate wood screws separately.

Can I use these on both left and right-handed doors?

Yes, the hinges are non-handed and fully reversible.

What is the recommended door width for the 6-inch hinges?

For best performance, use these hinges on doors measuring between 300mm and 450mm in width.

Will the black finish rust outdoors?

The hinges feature a baked-on epoxy black coating designed to offer excellent corrosion resistance, though regular inspection is recommended for outdoor environments.

Troubleshooting

Hinge is squeaking during operation

Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the hinge pin and knuckle.

Door is sagging after installation

Check that the door width is within the 300mm-450mm range and ensure all mounting screws are fully tightened.

Surface of the hinge looks dull

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals that may degrade the epoxy coating.

Pros and Cons

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install these hinges, first align the strap section on the door face and the knuckle on the door frame. Because the hinges are non-handed, ensure the hinge pin is positioned correctly based on your swing preference before marking your pilot holes. Since fixings are not provided, choose high-quality wood screws that match the finish of the hinge for a cohesive look. For maintenance, periodically inspect the screws to ensure they remain tight and apply a light lubricant to the knuckle if you notice any squeaking. Given the epoxy coating, avoid using abrasive cleaning pads that could scratch the surface and expose the base metal to moisture.
