FAQs

Can these logs be used in a standard fireplace?

Yes, they are suitable for stoves and fireplaces, although their 15cm length is optimized for smaller portable appliances.

How long will a 4.5kg box last?

Duration depends on your oven's temperature settings, but generally, one box provides enough fuel for one to two full cooking sessions.

Are the firelighters safe to use with food?

The wood wool firelighters are eco-friendly, but always ensure the fire is well-established before placing food into the oven.

Is the wood treated with chemicals?

No, these are premium natural kiln-dried hardwood logs with no chemical additives.

Can I store these outside?

It is highly recommended to store them in a cool, dry, and ventilated indoor area to maintain their low moisture content.

Troubleshooting

Logs are difficult to light

Ensure you are using the provided eco wood wool firelighters and that the air intake vents on your oven are fully open to allow for maximum oxygen flow.

Excessive smoke during cooking

Check that the logs are placed correctly within the oven to ensure proper drafting; if smoke persists, verify the logs have not been exposed to moisture during storage.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Ready to burn immediately upon arrival
  • Perfectly sized for portable pizza ovens
  • Eco-friendly firelighters included in the bundle
  • Consistently high heat output from the oak-inclusive hardwood mix

Cons

  • 4.5kg weight is relatively light for heavy-duty cooking sessions
  • Logs vary in diameter, requiring selection for specific air-flow needs
  • Limited fuel capacity for all-day outdoor events

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure peak performance, keep the logs in a dry environment even though they are kiln-dried; humidity from the outdoors can affect ignition.

Compatibility:

  • Pizza Ovens: Ideal for Ooni, Gozney, and other portable wood-fired units.
  • Outdoor Heating: Suitable for small chimeneas and tabletop fire pits.
  • Storage: The provided cardboard box is suitable for indoor storage but should be kept away from open flames or direct heat sources when not in use.

Care: Always allow ashes to cool completely before clearing your oven, and ensure the fire is fully extinguished before leaving the area unattended.
