FAQs

How do I choose the right grind for my Vokey SM11 wedge?

The grind affects how the sole of the wedge interacts with the turf. Grinds are typically categorized by letters (e.g., T, K, S, M, D, F) and suit different attack angles and playing conditions. Lower lofts often use T and F grinds, mid-lofts use M, S, and D grinds, while higher lofts often use K, M, and S grinds. Consult Titleist's grind chart or a fitting professional for personalized recommendations.

What is the benefit of the larger grooves?

The 5% larger groove volume improves the wedge's ability to clear away grass and debris, ensuring more consistent contact with the ball even from the rough or wet conditions, thereby maintaining spin performance.

Are these wedges suitable for beginners?

While engineered for elite performance, the wide variety of options means there are configurations that can benefit golfers of all skill levels, particularly those looking to improve their short game. Selecting a forgiving grind and appropriate loft is key.

How durable are the heat-treated grooves?

The heat treatment significantly increases the durability of the grooves, helping them maintain their sharpness and spin-generating capabilities for a longer period compared to non-treated grooves.

Can I get these wedges in different finishes besides Jet Black?

The Titleist Vokey SM11 wedges are also available in a Tour Chrome finish. Custom finish options may be available through authorized Titleist retailers or custom order services.

What is the difference between the SM11 and previous Vokey models?

The SM11 introduces advancements such as the new angled face texture, deeper and more durable grooves, and refined CG placement for enhanced spin, control, and consistency compared to older models.

Troubleshooting

Reduced spin performance

Ensure the grooves are clean and free of debris. Wet or dirty grooves can significantly impact spin. If the issue persists, check for excessive wear on the groove edges.

Inconsistent ball flight

Verify that you are consistently making centered contact on the clubface. The CG position is designed for stability, but off-center hits can lead to unpredictable flight. Ensure the loft and bounce are appropriate for your swing.

Club feels 'sticky' on certain turf conditions

This may be due to the selected bounce and grind. Higher bounce options are designed to help prevent digging on softer turf or in sand. Re-evaluate your grind selection based on your common playing conditions.

Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions

Setup: The primary setup consideration for the Titleist Vokey SM11 wedges is selecting the appropriate loft, bounce, and grind combination that best suits your swing characteristics and typical course conditions. Consult with a golf professional or utilize fitting resources to determine the optimal configuration for your game.

Compatibility: These wedges are designed to be compatible with standard golf club shafts and grips. The SM11 comes with a True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 shaft and a Titleist Universal 360 Black grip as standard, but can be custom-ordered with different specifications.

Care: To maintain optimal performance, regularly clean the clubface after each shot to remove grass, dirt, and sand. Use a damp cloth and a soft brush to clean the grooves and face texture. Avoid abrasive cleaners or tools that could damage the finish or groove integrity. Store your wedges in a dry place when not in use.
