Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: These bolt cutters require no assembly. They are ready for use straight out of the packaging. Ensure you inspect them for any shipping damage before initial use.
Compatibility: Designed to cut solid metal objects such as bolts, rods, chains, cables, and padlocks. The maximum cutting capacity is approximately 24mm at the widest point of the jaws. Not recommended for cutting hardened steel chains or very thick hardened bolts.
Care:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe the blades clean with a dry cloth to remove debris. For stubborn residue, use a lightly dampened cloth and dry immediately.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light machine oil to the pivot point to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
- Storage: Store in a dry environment, away from moisture, to prevent corrosion. Consider using a protective cover for the blades if stored for extended periods.
- Blade Maintenance: If cutting performance degrades, inspect the blades for damage or dullness. Minor dullness can sometimes be addressed with a metal file, but significant damage may require blade replacement or professional sharpening.
