Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing: Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist compost or a damp substrate like kitchen roll or cotton wool. For indoor growing, a shallow tray or pot is sufficient. Ensure the sowing medium remains consistently damp but not waterlogged.
Positioning: Place in a location that receives sun or semi-shade. A sunny windowsill is ideal for indoor crops.
Care: Keep the growing medium consistently moist by misting or gentle watering. Avoid letting the surface dry out, as this can stunt growth. No complex aftercare is usually required beyond maintaining moisture.
Compatibility: Suitable for most types of containers, window boxes, kitchen gardens, conservatories, and patios.
Harvesting: Snip the cress with scissors when it reaches approximately 5cm (2in) in height. Harvest regularly to encourage further growth.
