Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Select Correct Size: Refer to the Gul sizing chart to choose the appropriate size based on your chest measurement and weight. While adjustable, the correct base size is vital.
- Don the Buoyancy Aid: Slip the buoyancy aid over your head and arms as you would a vest.
- Adjust Waist Straps: Locate the 2-way waist adjustment straps. Fasten any buckles first, then pull the straps firmly but comfortably to secure the aid around your midsection. Ensure it feels snug without restricting breathing or movement.
- Check Fit: The buoyancy aid should fit snugly and not ride up excessively when you lift your arms. It should allow for full range of motion without feeling loose or overly tight.
Compatibility
This 50N buoyancy aid is compatible with most watersports activities conducted in sheltered waters where assistance with staying afloat is desired, but not a full-scale life-saving device. This includes:
- Kayaking
- Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP)
- Canoeing
- Dinghy Sailing
- Wakeboarding (as an aid, not primary impact protection)
Care
- Rinse After Use: After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse the buoyancy aid thoroughly with fresh, cool water to remove salt, sand, and chlorine.
- Air Dry: Hang the buoyancy aid in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure it is completely dry before storing to prevent mold and mildew.
- Store Properly: Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid folding or creasing for extended periods, which could damage the foam.
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect for signs of wear and tear, such as rips, frayed straps, damaged buckles, or compressed foam. If significant damage is found, replace the buoyancy aid.
- Avoid Chemicals: Do not use harsh detergents, bleach, or solvents, as these can degrade the material and foam.
