The Laser GEN2 Thrust Bearing (0662) is a high-precision component designed for professional automotive technicians and DIY enthusiasts performing wheel bearing maintenance. It excels at reducing rotational friction and ensuring smooth load distribution, though it requires specific attention to lubrication protocols to maintain its performance and extend its service life.

Laser Tools recommends Molybdenum Disulphide Grease, also known as black drive shaft grease.
It is not recommended. Molybdenum Disulphide Grease is specifically required to provide the high-pressure protection needed for these thrust bearings.
You should apply a fresh coat of grease before each use to ensure smooth operation and prevent premature wear.
While it is engineered for the Laser GEN2 system, it may fit other tools with similar dimensions, but functionality cannot be guaranteed with third-party equipment.
Replace the bearing if you notice flattened rollers, physical cracking, heavy scoring on the races, or if the bearing remains 'notchy' even after cleaning and proper lubrication.
The bearing may be lacking lubrication or has become contaminated with debris. Clean thoroughly and re-apply Molybdenum Disulphide Grease.
This indicates wear or lack of grease. Inspect for debris or signs of internal surface degradation and re-grease or replace as necessary.
To ensure peak performance, the thrust bearing must be lubricated before every use. Laser Tools specifically recommends the application of Molybdenum Disulphide Grease, frequently referred to as black drive shaft grease, to all mating surfaces, including the threaded force screws and the bearing tracks themselves. Avoid using thin machine oils, as they do not provide the necessary film strength for high-pressure bearing applications. Store the bearing in a clean, dry environment away from metal shavings or debris to prevent pitting on the internal races. Periodically inspect the bearing for signs of heat discoloration or flattened rollers, which indicate the need for replacement.
