Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Identify the filter thread size of your camera lens (this is usually a number followed by 'mm', e.g., 72mm).
- Identify the filter size you wish to use (e.g., 77mm).
- Select the corresponding Urth Step-Up Ring (e.g., Urth 72-77mm Step-Up Ring).
- Carefully screw the step-up ring onto the front of your lens.
- Screw your desired larger filter onto the step-up ring.
Compatibility:
These rings are designed to be compatible with standard threaded lenses and filters. However, always check your lens's front filter thread size and the desired filter size. Using a step-up ring that is too large for your lens's focal length (especially on wide-angle lenses) can result in vignetting (darkening of the image corners). It's recommended to test with your widest focal length before critical shoots.
Care:
- Clean the adapter threads periodically with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust and debris.
- For stubborn smudges, use a slightly damp cloth (water only) and ensure the adapter is completely dry before attaching it to your lens or a filter.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they can damage the anodized finish.
