The Thomas Dudley Plastic Float is an essential component designed for plumbers and homeowners seeking a reliable replacement for standard float valves. Providing excellent buoyancy and consistent valve actuation, this 8-inch spherical float ensures your cistern or storage tank system functions without interruption. While its durable plastic construction is built for long-term use, users should verify their existing arm connection size matches the 7/16-inch specification to ensure a secure, leak-free installation.

This float features a 7/16-inch connection thread.
Yes, it is suitable for cold water storage, but ensure it is protected from freezing conditions which can damage plastic components.
It is compatible with most standard float valves that accept a 7/16-inch threaded attachment.
Replace it if it no longer floats, appears waterlogged, or shows visible cracks in the plastic shell.
No, this product is for the float bulb only; the mounting arm must be purchased or sourced separately.
Check if the float is waterlogged or if the float arm is bent; ensure the float is not rubbing against the tank wall.
Adjust the angle of the float arm downwards to shut off the valve earlier as the water level rises.
Ensure the thread size is strictly 7/16-inch; use PTFE tape on the threads if a minor connection wobble persists.
To install, first isolate the water supply to the tank to prevent flooding. Unscrew the existing float from the end of the threaded float arm. Inspect the arm for any signs of corrosion or bending; if damaged, replace the arm as well. Screw the new 8-inch Thomas Dudley float onto the 7/16-inch threaded end, ensuring it is tightened by hand until secure. Do not overtighten, as this may strip the threads. For care, periodically inspect the float for debris or calcium buildup if installed in a hard water area, wiping it clean with a soft cloth to maintain optimal buoyancy.
