Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Timco chisel, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Sharpening: Maintain the primary bevel angle using a sharpening stone or guided honing system. Avoid grinding on high-speed wheels to prevent overheating the steel.
- Storage: Always store in a dry location to prevent blade corrosion. Use a blade guard when keeping the tool in a busy toolbox.
- Use: While the strike cap is forged for hammer use, prioritize the use of a wooden mallet or a rubber mallet to extend the lifespan of the handle assembly.
- Cleaning: Wipe the blade with a light machine oil after use, especially if working with acidic woods like oak, to prevent rust.
