The Rode NTSM5 is an essential accessory for professional videographers and field recordists who use shotgun microphones, providing a stable, vibration-dampened foundation for your gear. It is specifically engineered to minimize unwanted noise from camera handling or tripod movement, making it a perfect match for users of the Rode NTG, NT3, NT4, NT5, and NT55 series. While it offers superior mechanical isolation for these specific models, it is important to note that this mount is specialized for specific clamp-style camera integrations and may not be compatible with all microphone shapes or generic camera hot-shoe mounts without additional adapters.

Yes, the NTSM5 is designed for the Rode NTG series and is fully compatible with the NTG-5.
The NTSM5 is designed for clamp mounts and specific tripod threads; it may require a thread adapter to connect to standard hot-shoe accessories.
The mount is built for field use, but you should avoid prolonged exposure to extreme moisture or direct chemical contact to preserve the elasticity of the internal mounts.
No tools are required for basic mounting; the threads are designed to be tightened by hand.
These are the two standard sizes for professional camera gear; 1/4-inch is common for small tripods, while 3/8-inch is standard for professional boom poles.
Verify that the microphone diameter matches the cradle specification and that the clamp is tightened to the recommended torque.
Ensure the microphone cable is properly looped and attached to the mount to prevent cable-borne vibrations from reaching the mic.
To set up the NTSM5, align the microphone within the cradle, ensuring a snug fit that does not compress the internal dampening material. For tripod usage, select the appropriate 1/4-inch or 3/8-inch thread adapter based on your stand. When connecting to compatible Panasonic or Sony cameras, ensure the clamp tension is secure but not overtightened to avoid damaging the shock mount chassis. To care for your mount, keep it stored in a dry, dust-free environment and inspect the suspension elements periodically for signs of wear or cracking to maintain optimal performance.
