Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Prepare the Motherboard: Ensure the motherboard is removed from the case or has sufficient access to the CPU socket area. If using an existing installation, remove the old CPU cooler.
- Install Mounting Hardware: Attach the appropriate standoffs and mounting brackets to the motherboard for your specific CPU socket type (Intel or AMD) following the included manual.
- Apply Thermal Paste: Apply a small amount of thermal paste to the center of the CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS).
- Mount the Cooler: Carefully align the Pure Rock 3 LX heatsink over the CPU and secure it to the mounting brackets using the provided screws or clips. Ensure even pressure is applied.
- Connect the Fan: Plug the 4-pin PWM fan connector into the CPU_FAN header on your motherboard. Connect the 3-pin ARGB cable to a compatible ARGB header if you wish to use the lighting feature.
Compatibility:
The be quiet! Pure Rock 3 LX supports a wide range of modern CPU sockets, including:
- Intel: LGA 1851, LGA 1700, LGA 1200, LGA 115x (LGA 1150, 1151, 1155)
- AMD: Socket AM5, Socket AM4
Always verify motherboard compatibility and check for potential clearance issues with RAM modules and case side panels, especially in smaller form factor builds.
Care:
- Dust Removal: Periodically (every 3-6 months, or more often in dusty environments) clean the heatsink fins and fan blades to maintain optimal airflow and cooling efficiency. Use compressed air or a soft brush.
- Fan Inspection: Check the fan for any signs of wear or obstruction. Ensure it spins freely.
- Thermal Paste Reapplication: For optimal performance, consider reapplying thermal paste every 2-3 years, or if the CPU temperature significantly increases over time.
