Full details
This floorstanding hollow chisel mortiser from Charnwood offers a substantial timber capacity of 8" x 6" and can cut to the full depth of the chisel. Its extensive use of cast iron ensures strength and solidity, allowing for the use of larger chisels without flexing. The down feed handle is adjustable for a comfortable starting position, and the head can be lowered for faster cutting in smaller timber. The morticer features a cast iron body and table for durability, a cast iron work clamp with a quick-action lock, and a welded cabinet stand with storage space. The plunging head is controlled by a gas-filled spring, and it is powered by a quiet induction motor delivering 750W (1hp) at 240v and 1400rpm. The table moves through X and Y axes, with table travel of 165mm (6.5") left to right and 150mm (6") front to back. It accepts chisel shank sizes of 3/4" (requires an optional 3/4" bush) and up to 13/16" with an optional bush. Specifications include a maximum timber height of 205mm (8") with a 1/2" chisel, maximum clamping width of 145mm (6"), and a length stop capacity of 730mm (29").
