Setup:
- Unboxing: Carefully open the Frustration-Free Packaging. Handle the drive by its edges to avoid touching the circuit board or connectors.
- Installation: Install the WD Red 3TB drive into an available bay in your NAS system, following your NAS manufacturer's instructions. Secure the drive with screws if required.
- Connection: Connect the SATA data and power cables to the drive and your NAS motherboard.
- Initial Configuration: Power on your NAS. The system should detect the new drive. Follow your NAS operating system's prompts to format and configure the drive, often involving creating a storage pool or RAID array.
Compatibility:
This WD Red drive is designed for NAS systems. It features a standard 3.5-inch form factor and Serial ATA III interface, ensuring compatibility with most modern NAS enclosures from various brands. The integrated NASware firmware is specifically tuned for NAS environments, enhancing compatibility with popular NAS operating systems and network protocols.
Care:
- Environment: Operate the drive within the specified temperature range (0°C to 65°C) to ensure longevity.
- Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the drive to physical shock, especially when not installed in the NAS.
- Cleaning: If cleaning is necessary, ensure the drive is removed from the NAS and powered off. Use a dry, anti-static cloth. Never use liquids or sprays directly on the drive.
