FAQs

Is this jacket truly waterproof?

Yes, it features ARED 35/35K fabric and taped seams, providing high-level protection against snow and rain.

Can the hood be removed?

The jacket features a helmet-compatible hood designed for active mountain use; refer to the garment tag for specific adjustment or detachment features.

What should my child wear underneath?

We recommend moisture-wicking base layers to keep skin dry, followed by a fleece mid-layer for added warmth.

Does this jacket run true to size?

Yes, Dare 2b sizing follows standard children's sizing metrics. Check the specific age-group model for your child's fit.

How do I maintain the waterproof performance?

Regular washing with technical cleaners and periodically re-treating the outer shell with a DWR spray will maintain performance.

Troubleshooting

Water appears to be soaking into the outer fabric

The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish may need refreshing. Wash the jacket and re-apply a specialized DWR spray treatment.

Feeling damp inside during activity

Ensure that the wearer is not wearing too many heavy cotton layers underneath, which trap moisture. Use moisture-wicking synthetic or merino base layers.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Superior waterproof and breathable ratings
  • Excellent thermal insulation for cold environments
  • Ergonomic fit allows for unrestricted skiing
  • Seam-sealed for total weatherproofing

Cons

  • May feel heavy for non-winter activities
  • Requires specific care to maintain waterproof coating
  • Optimized for extreme cold, potentially too warm for mild spring skiing

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Rip It Ski Jacket, follow these care instructions:

  1. Cleaning: Machine wash on a gentle cycle using a mild technical detergent to preserve the DWR finish.
  2. Drying: Air dry whenever possible; if using a tumble dryer, use a very low heat setting to prevent damaging the insulation or the waterproof membrane.
  3. Storage: Hang the jacket in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use to maintain material integrity.
  4. Compatibility: The integrated hood is designed to sit over standard children's ski helmets. Adjust the drawstrings for a secure fit to ensure the hood stays in place during high-speed descents.
