Paterson Film Processing Kit

You will need to purchase black and white film developer, stop bath (or rinse with water), fixer, and a wetting agent. These are not included in the kit.

This kit is primarily designed for black and white film processing. Developing color film requires different, more complex chemical processes and often specialized equipment.

The universal developing tank typically holds one roll of 35mm or 120 film per spiral. The tank itself can accommodate multiple spirals depending on its capacity, but the included kit comes with spirals for one roll at a time.

The graduates are used for accurately measuring the precise volumes of water and chemicals needed for mixing your developing solutions. Accuracy is key for consistent results.

Test your darkroom by staying inside for several minutes with the lights off. Look for any light leaks around doors, windows, or vents. Use gaffer tape or blackout curtains to seal any openings.

Chemicals have a limited shelf life and potency. It is best to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for storage and usage, and consider replacing them if you notice a decline in development quality.

Ensure chemicals were mixed correctly and at the proper temperature. Verify that the film was fully submerged in the developer for the recommended time. Check if the developer was fresh.

Agitate the developing tank thoroughly and consistently during the development process. Ensure the film is loaded correctly onto the spiral without touching other parts of the film.

Use the provided film squeegee carefully and evenly to remove excess water. Consider using a wetting agent in the final rinse. Ensure the film is dried in a dust-free environment.

Check that the lid and cap are securely fastened. Inspect the tank for any cracks or damage. Ensure the rubber seals are clean and properly seated.
