Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Select the appropriate drill bit size for a snug fit (typically 4.9mm for a 4.8mm rivet).
- Drill a clean hole through the materials to be joined.
- Insert the rivet into the hole, ensuring it passes through all layers.
- Place the nose of your rivet tool over the rivet mandrel.
- Squeeze the handles of the rivet tool firmly and repeatedly until the mandrel snaps off.
Compatibility:
- Tools: Compatible with standard manual, pneumatic, or electric rivet guns designed for 4.8mm rivets.
- Materials: Suitable for joining mild steel, aluminum, plastic, and wood. Ensure the combined thickness of the materials falls within the effective grip range for a 20mm rivet (approximately 8mm - 16mm).
Care:
While A2 stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance, it is not entirely impervious. For optimal longevity, especially in coastal or highly polluted areas, occasional cleaning with a mild detergent and water can help remove salt or chemical deposits. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the surface.
