Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility Verification:
Before installation, it is essential to use the make and model tool provided to confirm that the CI Exhaust Temperature Sensor XEPS187 is compatible with your specific vehicle. Cross-reference the OE part numbers (ALFA/FIAT/LANCIA 51825681, 55217695) and aftermarket cross-references (ELTA AUTOMOTIVE EX5067, etc.) with your vehicle's existing components.
Installation:
- Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine has cooled completely.
- Safely lift and support the vehicle if necessary to access the exhaust system.
- Locate the old exhaust temperature sensor, typically installed after the catalytic converter.
- Use a 17mm spanner to carefully unscrew and remove the old sensor.
- Clean the threaded port on the exhaust pipe.
- Screw the new CI Exhaust Temperature Sensor XEPS187 into place by hand to avoid cross-threading.
- Tighten the sensor using the 17mm spanner to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications.
- Connect the 2-pin connector to the vehicle's wiring harness.
- Lower the vehicle and clear any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) using an OBD-II scanner.
Care:
This sensor is designed for the harsh conditions of the exhaust system and typically requires no routine user maintenance. Its longevity depends on correct installation and the overall health of the exhaust and engine systems. Avoid physical damage to the sensor and its wiring during any underbody work.
