These blades are designed to be compatible with most standard 21-inch bow saw frames that utilize a pin-and-hook attachment system.
While they will cut dry wood, the tooth geometry is optimized for wet/green wood. They may perform less efficiently and dull faster on very dry, seasoned hardwood.
The teeth should point toward the handle for a pull-stroke cut or away from the handle for a push-stroke cut; check your saw frame design to match the blade orientation.
The product includes 5 individual blades per package.
Wipe the blade clean of sap and moisture after each use and apply a thin layer of protective oil before long-term storage.
Check the blade tension. If too loose, the blade may flex and trap debris. Ensure you are cutting with a long, consistent stroke.
Use a small notch or a slow pull stroke to initiate the groove before applying full pressure.
Avoid cutting into dirt, rocks, or metal wire embedded in the wood, as these will ruin the tooth sharpness instantly.
To install, loosen the tensioning lever on your bow saw frame and slide the old blade off the mounting pins. Align the holes of the new Dapetz blade with the pins, ensuring the teeth are pointed in the correct direction for your cutting stroke. Re-apply tension until the blade is rigid and does not wobble. For maintenance, keep the blade dry after use to prevent rust, and wipe with a light coat of machine oil if stored in a humid environment. Replace the blade once the tooth points become dull, as worn teeth will cause the saw to drift and increase physical fatigue.
