Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Compatibility Check:
Before installation, always verify that the NGK BR6HSA (4296) is the correct spark plug for your specific vehicle make, model, and year. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or a reliable parts catalog. Incorrect spark plug type can lead to poor performance or engine damage.
Installation:
- Ensure the engine is cool.
- Remove the old spark plug using an appropriate-sized spark plug socket wrench.
- Carefully thread the new NGK BR6HSA spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading. It should turn in smoothly.
- Once hand-tight, use the spark plug socket wrench to tighten it slightly. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the cylinder head or the plug.
- Reattach the spark plug wire.
Care:
Spark plugs are generally considered maintenance items and are not designed for long-term cleaning and reuse. If a spark plug becomes fouled or worn, it is typically replaced. Regular engine maintenance, including proper air-fuel mixture and avoiding engine flooding, helps prolong the life of the spark plug.
