Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment and insert the two AA batteries, observing correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
- Initial Test: Press and hold the TEST/SILENCE button for a few seconds to perform an initial system test. The alarm should sound.
- Placement: Choose a location that is at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) away from cooking appliances and heating/ventilation sources. For wall mounting, use the provided screws and anchors to attach the mounting bracket. For freestanding use, place the unit on a stable, level surface.
Compatibility:
This is a standalone carbon monoxide detector and does not wirelessly interconnect with other alarms. It is powered by standard AA batteries.
Care:
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the exterior of the detector with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they can damage the plastic or interfere with the sensor.
- Vacuuming: Use the soft brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner to gently remove dust from the sensor vents once a month to ensure optimal performance.
- Battery Replacement: Replace the AA batteries when the yellow LED flashes and the unit chirps, or at least every 3 years, whichever comes first, to ensure continuous operation.
