Shopping.co.uk has a built-in AI Shopping Assistant. It’s a chatbot that searches across our entire product database, compares prices from multiple retailers, and gives you helpful answers about what to buy. Think of it as having a knowledgeable shopping mate who’s already done the legwork.
The assistant can handle everything from specific product searches to broad shopping advice. Here’s what you can ask it.
Find specific products
Ask for “a commuter backpack” and it’ll come back with picks at different price points, from a Xiaomi at £19.99 up to a Samsonite at £149. Each result links straight to the retailer so you can buy right away.
Get fashion and seasonal advice
Not sure what’s in this season? Ask. One of our team asked “What are the most fashionable items for men in their 30s this season?” and the assistant came back with specific product picks, complete with prices and sizes. It pulled together an overcoat, chino trousers, a quarter-zip jumper, and Chelsea boots, all matched to the size and budget given.
While testing the fashion advice, the assistant found a pair of Jack and Jones chinos on Frasers for £3 — down from £35. That’s a 91% discount on a solid pair of trousers. Two of us bought them before we’d finished reading the results. At £3, turning them down would have taken more effort than buying them.
Build a shopping list
Planning a camping trip but don’t know where to start? Tell the assistant “I want to go camping” and it’ll put together a list of what you need. It runs multiple searches at once across different categories and puts the results together in one answer.
Refine as you go
The assistant remembers what you’ve been talking about. If the first set of results isn’t quite right, just tell it what to change. “Can you find something cheaper?” or “I’d prefer a different colour” — it’ll search again with your preferences in mind.
“I need a laptop backpack for cycling to work” will get you better results than “backpack.” Include your size, budget, or preferred style if you have one.
The assistant keeps the conversation going. If it shows you something close but not quite right, tell it what to change rather than starting a new conversation.
If you’re stuck between two types of product, ask the assistant to show you both and explain the differences. It’ll pull pricing from multiple retailers so you can see where the best deal is.
You don’t always need to know exactly what you want. “I’ve got a wedding next month and need an outfit” is a perfectly good starting point.
Look for the chat icon in the bottom-right corner of Shopping.co.uk. Click it to open the assistant, type your question, and you’ll get product recommendations with live prices and direct links to buy. You can start a new conversation at any time using the “+ New” button.
